What is a DWV riser diagram?

A DWV riser diagram (drain, waste, vent) is a vertical schematic of a building's plumbing drainage system. It shows fixtures, drain lines, vent lines, and pipe sizes on each floor. Most plumbing permits in New Jersey require a DWV riser as part of the submittal.

What is a gas riser diagram?

A gas riser diagram shows how gas piping runs from the meter to each appliance, with pipe sizes and BTU loads on each segment. Required for most permits involving new gas appliances, water heaters, dryers, or piping changes.

Does RiserTool follow NJ plumbing code?

Yes. Fixture units (WSFU and DFU), water service sizing, and gas pipe capacity tables are based on the New Jersey plumbing and gas codes. RiserTool is a design resource — verify all output against your local code before submitting permits.

The tool currently uses NJ code values for fixture units and pipe sizing. NY and PA support is on the roadmap. The geometry and editor work fine for any jurisdiction; you'd just need to verify the sizing values yourself.
